How to Donate

20th May 2020.

Dear Parishioner,
First of all let me say that I hope that these difficult times are not taking too big a toll on you. Not only is Covid-19 regulating our lives but it seems to be the sole topic of conversation throughout the media. It could become depressing if we’re not careful.

Many people are also finding their financial situation quite stressful. In such circumstances it is special to find so many parishioners enquiring as to how they can continue to make their regular contributions to the parish. I thank you for your generosity. I might give just some words of explanation.

This parish, like all other parishes, depends on the weekly Offertory collection for its main source of funding for the running of the parish and for the ongoing maintenance of parish properties. Quite understandably, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic this funding has almost completely evaporated.  But, as you might expect, parish expenses have not disappeared, especially in relation to the maintenance of the buildings. In fact, we have had many large outlays since the summer of 2019 right up to the present and some still pending. (You will find an outline of these in the, 'Parish Expenses', under the, 'Parish Info', column).

As it is likely to be quite some time before we are able to resume the community celebration of Sunday Mass, and in response to the queries of parishioners, I have decided to set up a system whereby you may contribute, should you so wish. I know that this will not be possible for everyone. But if you would like to continue to contribute to the parish  there are three options.

1. Drop in your envelope to the Parochial House through the letter box.

2. Write a cheque and post it to me at, The Parochial House, Askeaton. In this case indicate, please, whether the money is for the Offertory  collection (please make out to, Askeaton-Ballysteen Parish) or for the Dues collection (please make out to, Fr. Sean).

3. Contribute though online banking. This can be done directly from your own account to one of the parish accounts at, Cois Sionna Credit Union.

We have been advised that we can no longer provide our IBAN & BIC details as it leaves our accounts open for scam artists.
The Credit Union is happy to take donations and lodge to the parish account.  We thank you and are very grateful for your support and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In these cases be sure to include your name on the lodgement, please, so that we can acknowledge your contribution on the financial statement we send to you at the end of the year.

I hope you will continue to keep safe and well. God bless.
Thank you again for your generosity.
Fr. Seán
